As previously stated JDW has predominantly been involved in the manufacture of sheet metal ductwork. Ducting of virtually any size and gauge of material can be produced in very large quantities in a short period of time making use of the labour saving machinery available. Using the 'Firmac' rectangular duct forming machine, sections of ductwork 1500mm long, cuts out the need for any manual bending or stiffening of material. This machine is coil fed and can produce ductwork sections of all common sizes from 125mm sq. to 2.5m sq.. Fittings i.e. bends, tapers etc. are quickly and efficiently produced using the 'Cybermation 550A' 3m x 1.5m bed plasma profiling machine. This machine allows us to cut materials in thickness up to 6mm plate at sheet sizes within the size of the machine bed. The Plasma Profiler is also used for the profiling of sheet metal components, not related to ductwork, of intricate shapes where hand marking and cutting would be impractical.

In addition to light sheet metal fabrication JDW also has both the skilled labour and workshop capacity to produce medium weight steelwork fabrication. An example of this is extraction cabinets for industry, extraction hoods and canopies and fabrication of bespoke items of equipment requiring welding and heavier gauge metal forming and/or steelwork frames and containers for industry.
JDW Engineering are able to work with gauges of mild steel up to 6mm plate, stainless steel and aluminium. Items can be supplied to any standard finish and painting specification.
